"Downtown Body" by Ward Shelley Signed—Limited Edition
The original work of art on which this edition is based is now in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Purchase a limited edition print of Ward Shelley's Downtown Body, a drawing specifically made for and exclusively available from BOMB, with annotations by some of Downtown's greatest luminaries, including annotations by Laurie Anderson, Dara Birnbaum, Richard Foreman, John Giorno, Bob Holman, Alison Knowles, Arto Lindsay, Carolee Schneemann, Lynne Tillman, and Alan Vega.
Ward Shelley's drawings chart the fleeting intersections of people and places, especially those catalyzing the key moments in our ever-morphing cultural history. In Downtown Body, a drawing specifically made for BOMB Magazine, Shelley traces the comings and goings of those who are still defining downtown culture, wherever "downtown" happens to be.
Shelley's work is in a number of museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Art Museum and was a 2005–06 Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. He has received NYFA and NEA fellowships in sculpture and new media categories, a Bessie Award for installation art, private foundation grants from the Jerome Foundation and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, as well as the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award for Painting and Sculpture. He is represented by Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.
